Keeping the Fridge Filled

This site (myfoodstorage.com) was advertising inside of an Obama-Romney news article on the web, under the timely banner 'There is No Debate: The Time to Prepare is Now'...

What are your observations & thoughts about the products involved? about the marketing? about the potential clientele?

The company appears to be directly marketing their product to people who have a strong fear that a disaster will occur and no aid will be provided. The website clearly preys on their target audience’s fear of disasters. A banner add on the website display “Don’t Wait for Disaster” and their most recent blog post is titled “Prepping for Doomsday”.

However, there are legitimate uses for the long term storage food that the website sells. It could be helpful to be prepared for a disaster if you live in an area where natural disasters such as hurricanes can occur (e.g. the gulf coast).

This site was very extensive in its product selection. They are definately targeting the doomsday preppers and have a good price for what you get. This being siad it is not a bad thing for people to prepare for emergencies with all the changing weather and other potential for disaster. The 25 year shelf life make it a wise investment in case of a natural disaster that cuts off any outside aid for days/weeks (such as Katrina).

This is a great site for people who want to prepare for a disaster.
There is a good variety of products to choose from. I like the way the site is setup. I think investing in some of these products is a good investment.

If this site didn't have ad's for dooms day prepping I wouldn't have thought about that niche for marketing for this product. On the front page they have the paragraph about the food storage for disasters or emergancy needs and they said nothing about dooms day or the end of the world. Im sure their business will be booming for the next couple months.

I got to say, I'm not surprised that this exists. As long a people believe that there is a coming apocalypse there will be people that will buy from these sites. What I did not like is that it had foreboding articles to read on the front page. I dont feel that it is fair to endorse the product in such a way. People should shop already believing that there will be an apocalypse. Not be convinced by to buy the product
